D on a good day // digital art

Hey guys! It's Darrion (also fondly known as D).

I wanted to do something more... artsyish for my profile picture, though I really don't like drawing self-portraits. But this one isn't really that realistic, I just made it a quick sketch (i.e. no proper line-art).

This is me on a good day (dressed nicely, bracelet on hand, compared to my usual drowsy appearance). Yep, my normal expression while on the internet. Bored!

Anyway, this took a lot longer than I wanted it to. The coloring, shading, and everything else went fine. But the background... ugh. The room that the computer is in is green, but that color just didn't mix well with the picture.

I'm wearing one of my favorite shirts (the complete quote says sun shine in my heart), and Thorin's key around my neck (one of my favorite pieces of jewelry).

To most, I look as if I have black hair. Actually, it is very, very dark brown. Put it against my dad's and you'd know, it's not black.

I think I may have made my skin too light... I dunno, I haven't been out in the sunshine much this year, so it might be right :)

Thanks for viewing, guys!

Sincerely,
Darrion

quicksilver // walk it off // digital art

Yes, another piece of Pietro Maximoff fanart.

This one is sort of spoilersish, so if you haven't seen Age of Ultron, don't look at this too closely :)

You know when Cap said "if you get hurt, hurt 'em back. You die... walk it off."

Well, that's the quote for this one.

   Walk it off, man.

Actually, the only reason I did the quote and red swipe thing is because I was too lazy to draw his eyes. But let's not talk about that part :)

Not really happy with the way his hair turned out. I liked it much better in the other one. But I am happy with his clothes, though the shading wasn't enjoyed as it usually is. And the cloudy stuff added something to it I liked, I think it gave it a more serious feel.

Anyway, which Quicksilver do you like better? The first, or this one? Personally, I'm more happy with the way that one came out then this one, but I'd love to hear what you think!

Sincerely,
Darrion

gogo tomago // big hero 6 // digital art // new header

Hey everyone!

Just watched Big Hero 6 last week. Wow, great movie. Full of emotion (and beautiful animation). But no spoilers in this post...

My favorite characters were Tadashi, Baymax, Fred, Wasabi, Gogo Tomago, and well... everybody else.

So yeah, right after we saw it, fanart ideas went whirling through my head. Though this one is pretty simple, I thought I'd do it anyway.

Yep, it's the speedster (huh, I seem to go for those in favorite character picks *ahem* Pietro *ahem*) Gogo Tomago!

Love her hair. That was pretty fun to do, and the gum was too. Her face didn't turn out quite right, but I'm happy enough with it. Also, I could've done better on her jacket and expression, but this wasn't that serious anyways.

Oh, new background and header! I thought I'd give it a little more digital flavor, since I'm working on that a lot nowadays.

Do you like it better than the one before?

Well, hope you like Gogo from Big Hero 6! Think I should give Tadashi a try? :)

Sincerely,
Darrion

pietro maximoff // digital art

Hey guys!

Yes, digital Pietro is finally here. Actually, I've been done with this one for awhile now... but I had touch ups to finish up :)

Like the flowy blue stuff, the pattern on his shirt, the refracted light... ugh, no wonder it took so long to finish. But I'll talk about all of that in the upcoming making-of post.

Hope you guys like this one! I'm working on touching-up another Pietro (this one more sketchy and unfinished then this one) digital piece now, so watch out for that.

Sincerely,
Darrion

sky and clouds // digital art

   Hey guys!

Here's some more digital art. I just did this today, and accidentally did it all on the same layer. Shh, don't tell anybody :)

And I learned that if I had separated it, I could have done the clouds on a different layer, so I could have better added the stars without getting into the other clouds.

Eh, live and learn, I guess.

I'll be working on some more digital art, so keep a weather eye out for that :) Think I should do some more skylines, do ya think?

Thanks for viewing, guys!

Darrion

little mj // oc // digital art

Hey guys! I've got it for you. My first finished piece of digital art yet!

My Wacom Intuos pen and touch medium arrived on April 25th, and I've been playing around with it since then. Lots of rough sketches and unfinished pieces.

But I really like it so far, everything is so nice and clean. The layers really help, though I do get mixed up with which one I'm on. I've had to erase a bunch because I put them on the wrong layer.

I thought I'd do another drawing of my Star Wars OC character, MJ, when she was just a little girl.

I used mostly cel-shading on her clothes and montrals (head-tale-things), but just regular shading of her skin/lips. The shading part was definitely my favorite, I love the clean look of cel-shading.

Her lips were actually pretty fun, though I think they might be a little too large. Her skin was kind of hard to do, with all of the tones of red and all.

I decided to do the background pretty simply, instead of the bunk I had pictured her sitting in at the beginning of sketching this out.

Ugh, lineart is not my thing. I guess my hands are just too unsure of themselves, it ended up pretty shaky and I had to erase and re-do a lot of it. Also, the lineart is too thick for my liking, though it did reduce the shakiness.

Anyway, that's my first digital piece! Watch out for more of my art, not just digitally, but traditionally too :)

Thanks for viewing, guys!

Sincerely,
Darrion
